Flagstone
Flagstone is usually a form of a sandstone composed of feldspar and quartz and is quarried in places with bedded sedimentary rocks with fissile bedding planes. It is a sedimentary rock that is split into layers along bedding planes. Flagstone or Flagging refers to thin, relatively flat stones used for paving applications. A tremendous variety exists in the Flagstone category including dimensional, irregular (mosaic), and rough-cut varieties of stone. Pattern Cut Flagstone is natural stone that has been selected and sawn to specific sizes or shapes. Flagstone or Flagging may be installed in dry or wet applications.
Flagstone comes in a variety of color combinations. This feature makes it quite popular. It is also very durable as an installation and because it is formed in nature, it is very tough! There is a wide variety of uses for Flagstone. It is used to pave horizontal surfaces such as walkways, patios, entries, floors, pool decks, steps, stair treads, driveways and more. It is naturally slip resistant which makes Flagstone the perfect material for outdoor surfaces. Flagstone is becoming an increasingly popular stone to use when landscaping the home as well. It is also often used as veneer for interior or exterior vertical surfaces, adding beauty and value to your custom home or commercial building project.
